Folks, I know this isn't Friday by about 15 hours my apologies. But I really don't think the Microbus is headed anywhere near production - let alone getting a pop-top. It's more likely that we'll get the Ford/VW project vehicle - but I bet even that is undecided. Maybe we can start a list pool, proceeds go to the list? Maybe not even give anything away except for bragging rights. I am putting my money on the microbus never seeing production given the recent article that's been floating around (citing the strong Euro, and competition from the Toureg). So I think the debate over getting a pop-top is a bit premature. Oh BTW, my Weekender has a rear cabinet just like the full Westy. That's where all our camping gear and linens are stored. The back seat is wider, which means it has more storage space underneath for the emergency parts (starter, belts, hoses, oil, antifreeze, etc.). I also use the metal-lined cooler inside the jumpseat to store non-perishable food items and water jugs. I don't think I'm missing much storage space. Granted, I wash hands and plates outside... You can't win them all. Well, I bought a lottery ticket today, so if I win I'll plunk down some change on a Syncro with full Westy gear which is about what it would take. Conrad |
