Thanks to all who gave advice on this. Problem was that I had taken S&S exhaust system apart to remove engine w/o getting the gaskets for the S&S system to put things back together.

Solution was cheap and local. I took the section of pipe with the O2 sensor over to the largest of the Advance Auto parts stores in town. The young lady behind the counter went away for a few minutes and came back with exactly the right gasket. Seems that same gasket fits something on 1969-83 Chevy and GMC trucks with V8 engines. Gasket is Federal-Mogul P/N 85088.
