My primary ride ( believe it or not) is an '86 Buick Skyhawk Sport
Hatchback. Excellent handling, adequate power, 30+ MPG, very comfortable
little cruiser. Also, a very rare model. Have owned it since 1990 when it
had 11K on the odometer. Now it's up to 105K. Has the usual GM crap
issues--bad paint, rubber / synthetic deterioration, gaskets that fail etc.
My 2nd ride is an '86 Jaguar XJ-6. A real car. Has the same FI as the Westy,
although it appears to be very different. A lot of the same maintenance
issues as well.
The '83 Westy fills a unique niche, in that it is primarily a camper, albeit
a tiny one. I often take trips that last 2-3 days, and it's just the right
thing for this purpose.
I fix them all myself.
