Subject: ticking ecu in '86 westy
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

i have had my van ripped apart for a couple weeks now as i install a comprehensive stereo, including an aux battery wired back to the alternator through a cut out switch.

i started the engine for the first time today and noticed a strange ticking sound coming from the engine control computer (not sure if it's ecu or dme in vw land). i'm pretty sure it wasn't there before, as i was driving around for awhile with the plastic trim removed from the bottom of the rear bench seat/bed.

anyone ever heard an ecu click? any idea why?

thanks.

Ben.
