Went out to look at a Cabrio, bad shape, bad top, yuck... No go... So driving home I pass one of those corner car lot type places and see a black 90 VW Fox... Hrmmm stopped in and asked if I could take it for a ride, did, loved it, bought it... Lol, new toy. Needs some work, has some rust underneath, but it's a fun car to drive and the price was right. At $700 if it lasts 6 mos it's cheaper than financing!

After buying the car I pass another little car lot that had a cabrio in front, again, bad shape, bad top... But there's a huge junkyard behind the place so I ask if he's got any Vanagons, thinking Yeah right... But he says yeah, there's 2 back there somewhere... So I go and find a pretty decent 1996 Vanagon 7 seater with a brown interior like my wolfy and with an engine and the tell tale empty head gasket packages under the passenger seat, under the drivers seat was a mint jack, jack bag, and tools. I pull the instrument cluster because it's got a tach, pulled all the grab handles, the rear heater switch, hazard switch, climate control sliders, dash light bulbs, map pockets, dome lights and glove box light. Then I see a 72 Westy pop top with the top sticking up and grab more brown grab handles and dome lights! I walk out with all of this for $50, which I consider a pretty good deal since it all works and it's all in mint condition! And get this! Both vans have all 4 chromedome hubcaps which I'm goin back for tomorrow with my hubcap puller...

Heh... Good day eh?

So, question is... What do I need to install this instrument cluster with the tach? How do I install a tach into a non-tach Vanagon?

Thanks!

D
