Y'all have been so helpful w/ my last couple of questions, I figure this one is worth a try as well: I'm leaving next weekend w/ my girlfriend for a 2 week camping trip in Yellowstone. Will be driving from SoCal in my 90 Carat, probably up through the south entrance. I'm guessing there's quite a few campers here that have been to Yellowstone, so I'd love to hear some general thoughts/wisdom/advice. I was there as a kid, 15 years ago, but don't remember much other than big bison and elk. We'll be car camping out of the van, and hopefully doing a lot serious day hiking. My GF is recovering from an ankle injury, so it may be a limiting factor. I'm considering bringing bikes, but I'm not sure how good that would be as our range would be limited (my gf isn't a very experienced rider). It looks like most campsites don't accept reservations (?), so I was gonna just see what I can find when I get there. Any particularly good areas? I'm aware of the potential for cold temps, and am prepared for and used to that. Although, I have been curious about safe/cheap options for heating the van...? Anyway, any thoughts about hiking, cycling, driving, campsites, things to do/see would be great. Thanks, James |
