Your air filter is there for a very good reason, do NOT drive around with out it! Many vehicles, especially older ones do require adjustments to operate well at high altitude. If you are going to be at altitude for a while this may be necessary, but do not try to compensate by removing your air filter. I am not versed in altitude adjustments myself, but I am sure somebody on the list could advise more on this.

Hi guys,

I'll be driving Gypsy cross country from Florida to Montana next summer, and just learned from somebody that when they took a trip in the '70's into altitude they had problems with their car until somebody told them to take out the airfilter.

Should I expect to have problems when we hit the mountains, and will taking out the air filter do the trick? Or is there anything I should add/do to Gypsy now in preparation for the altitude?
