What might the problem be >and where should I look to troubleshoot? Same bulb, but two separate filaments. Take the bulb out and make sure the filaments are both fine. Clean the contacts on the bottom and the side to make sure that the bulb isn't the problem, then look into the rusty socket that it works in. Clean the heck out of it, scraping through the rust and copper oxide to get good conductivity between the contacts on the socket and the bulb, and the grounded sides. Check to see if that ficed the problem. If so, pull the bulb back out, put a bit of electrical grease on it to keep it from seizing up in there when the oxidation sets back in, and put it all back together. If you find that your socket is so badly corroded that cleaning it disintegrates it, keep your eyes open for one of our Arizona based people to mention that they're parting out a van. Nothing rusts in Arizona. If the problem wasn't in the socket, trace the wire back from the socket to the switch to find the break. If three parking lights work, the problem is after the switch. If the turn signal in that socket works, the problem is before the brown wire back to ground. |
