One thing I did when I inspected my fuel tank was to backflush the supply line and the mesh screen. I couldn't really see if it was clean but decided to take no chances. I ended up using a cheap, garden type, hand pump sprayer with a small amount of gasoline in it to wash down the interior of the tank. I also attached the sprayer line directly to the supply nipple on the fuel tank and sprayed about 1 pint of gas through it backwards, then re-rinsed the tank with the sprayer. I worked outdoors and recovered most of the fuel that I had used to rinse the tank. You could also use alcohol or fuel cleaner instead of gas, it would probably be safer. Just be careful, no matter what agent you choose to use.
