People who talk about "scalar waves" are usually the same people pitching perpeptual motion devices. A web search on the topic will reveal some pretty absurd claims being made. A large eruption at Yellowstone is a worst-case scenario, and also the least likely. The chances of any eruption happening there in our lifetime, much less during a trip to the area, are probably almost vanishingly small. I wouldn't hesitate to visit.
