Aha! Is this the archives question coming up again?

I hope so....If noone is working on this, I'm ready and willing to work on it but will need some technical ( ie website/search engine )help, 'cos I'm hopeless that way.

I think the biggest problem is sifting through the archives for the useful articles/info/links. As Stan W pointed out a few weeks ( months?) ago, this is a huge job because the Archives are so big.

But there are quite a few of us on the list, and it doesn't all have to be done immediately.

My intent here is to get the ball rolling, so here is a proposal:

I will happily act as collator for technical articles/messages links that listees have found particularly useful. Send me your favorite link/article number from the archives etc, and I'll group them by Bentley repair group. The we can see which areas are under represented and start doing very specific archive searches for them...

I'll need someone who can take this fairly raw information, and put it together on a searchable website for us all to use.

My intent here is to get the ball rolling.... if it isn't already! I don't want to be the arbiter of what goes into a technical site: I don't know enough for that. But I can rely on listees experience when they forward info for a technical site.

There, feeling a bit nervous about this ( it is after all a fairly ambitious undertaking), I'll send this out.

Please remember this is just a proposal right now- and maybe not a fully thought out one at that. Comments on the idea? Offers of website help? Better or more functional ideas? I won't take offence at any of these...

And of course, apologies if this has all been done before/ is in process, and I just don't know about it...

Shawn...thanks for raising the issue again, it's been rattling around in the back of my mind for a while..

When are we going to make a Vanagon Technical Library? It could very much resemble what's been done at type2.com for the older buses.

Is someone working on this?
