The ratcheting box-end wrenches you can get in hardware stores these days are a Good Thing. I haven't had to do a slave cylinder yet, but I've found them handy for other jobs. A lot of them have very fine toothed ratchets that are great for areas where you don't have much room to swing the wrench.
