Subject: New free Sirius satellite radio offer
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

For those listmembers who missed out on the free Sirius satellite radio offer in June, there is a new and better offer on now for a limited time. This offer is for the 2nd generation equipment that hit the market this summer. You will get approximately $200 worth of equipment sent to your door (no shipping charges) if you agree to a one year subscription. If those listmembers who got the service last June have any comments on it please let the group know. Here's what Edmunds says about it - "Last, but certainly not least, is the introduction of one of the most exciting innovations to take place in car audio since the invention of FM radio. This is a technology whose time has come, and it is poised to change the way we listen to music in our cars. Known as satellite radio, the technology is exactly what the name implies: radio signals coming to your vehicle via satellites above the earth. Think of it as the audio version of DirectTV or Dish Network, and this will perhaps give you a better idea of what we're talking about." ( Car Audio in the 21st Century article at http://aolsvc.edmunds.com/advice/specialreports/articles/100445/article.html ). I have the service in two cars - it is great, and both of my radios were free from a similar previous offer. These new 2nd generation receivers also work with any FM radio and are easier to install and offer more features than the 1st generation ones.

Find out more about the service at www.sirius.com. It is a subscription based service that offers 100 channels of music, sports, news, entertainment (all 60 music channels are commercial free). Follow the Product and Services link on the left to the Product Catalog ... Plug and Play link to see the equipment that they are offering for free and to download product manuals if you would like. Some more pictures are available at www.crutchfield.com (search for Sirius and look at the universal aftermarket tuner link). You can also go to your local Circuit City or Best Buy and see and hear them in person. You get your choice of a docking station (home or car). One of the Audiovox car docking stations allows for a wireless setup to any FM radio. I posted a lot of info on this last June if you want to search the archives.

Below are the details on this offer, but you better act quick since they apparently are going fast. Use John McMullen as the referral name, as this offer is geared towards "friends and family" like salespeople at places like Best Buy. He says the offer ends 9/30, but the official pdf file indicates it ends on 9/15, so I would order before then if you want one.

Many people won't want to pay for something that they can get for free, but there are around 1 million people in less than two years who have decided it is worth the price. There is a reason that satellite radio is the fastest selling consumer audio product of the last thirty years. Once you have had a chance to experience it you will understand, it's that good. TV is free, but most people are willing to pay for cable or satellite TV because of the better variety and programming. Satellite radio is the same.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <<Free hardware with purchase of subscription>>
<<Here's a fantastic deal for completely free hardware (your choice) with a paid subscription. Details below (as provided by Sirius Producer, John McMullen): ~~~~~~~~~~~ This afternoon, I mentioned on my show that there is now an opportunity to get a free SIRIUS Satellite Radio portable receiver. These are the new units that will work in a home/office or automobile. I'm sending this out to friends and family because, it's the SIRIUS friends and family accommodations program. I'd like to offer you the opportunity to take advantage of this great deal.
Here's how it works....
To be eligible, you have to be a family member... or friend of an employee. And, anyone who listens to my show is DEFINITELY a friend!! Orders for the radios are limited to one system and one activation per participant. Orders must be placed no later than September 30, 2003, and the radio must be activated by October 31st at the very latest. Your acceptance of the hardware authorizes SIRIUS to activate and bill the credit card you use for $77.70 for the first 6 months of service. A one-year programming commitment is required at the time of activation. The second payment of $77.70 for the year's service is due approximately six months later. We will ship the system to the specified shipping address within 72 hours as long as hardware is in stock. You get FREE activation (normally $15). If you choose to deactivate service within the first year, a $30 charge will be billed for the cancellation fee to your credit card.
Now, keep in mind that this program has limited quantities of our new portable radios so if you want to take advantage of this free hardware/free activation offer, you will want to act quickly.
There are two systems to choose from:
1. Kenwood Here2Anywhere System: KTC-H2A1 KPA-H2C (car kit docking station) KPA-HTH (home kit docking station)
or
2. Audiovox SRS: Satellite Radio Shuttle SIR-CK1 (car kit with built-in FM transmitter) SIR-HK1 (home kit)
Here's how you order...
Call 800-466-9742 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern Time, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Saturday, no later than September 30, 2003.
Alert the SIRIUS representative that you are calling in for the Employee Friends & Family Program.
Provide the SIRIUS rep with the following: Your Name Your Home Address Your Phone Number Your Credit Card Information Your Hardware Selection (I personally recommend the Audiovox system, but both are cool... Audiovox is best if you plan to get the car kit because it has a built in FM modulator that will allow you to transmit to your existing car stereo) Give the representative my name, John McMullen, as your employee referral.
Once your system arrives (usually within a week), you will need to install it. It's VERY EASY. However, if you find it confusing, you can take it to a installation service at any of our major retailers. They will charge for this service. But, again, the portable units are easy to install because they don't involve modifying your vehicles. After installing, turn on the radio and select channel 184, the Preview Channel, to confirm that it is working properly.
THEN... Call SIRIUS at 888-539-7474 to Activate the unit.
When you talk with the service representative, you will need to provide them with your contact information and your SIRIUS ID Number from your receiver which will be located on the outside of the system box (it can also be found on the display by pushing the correct buttons detailed in the instruction manual).
