Listerines, Having a frustrating problem with my 84 Westy...I just did a cylinder head seal on an engine with 80K on it. It starts up fine but as he engine gets warm, it seems the performance drops off to the point where it will stall out. Once it stalls, it will not start, and reminds me of a car that is mis-timed, or flooded. Won't even start using ether. This is, or was, a van that I termed Mr. Reliable, it always ran even after leaving it sit for months at a time. I checked all my wiring, and fuel lines. Timing is on, new cap, rotor, plugs and factory spark plug wires. I made the initial adjustment to the valves according to the Bently manual.(Screw the adjustment screw in until it is touching, and then turn it in another two turns). Not sure where to go from here. Nearest VW shop is hour and twenty minutes away, so I am on my own. The exhaust has plenty of force out of the tailpipe, so I don't think it is a blocked catalytic converter. Any idea's would greatly be appreciated. MJB |
