I had my '84 out this afternoon on its maiden voyage since I put the new engine in. After driving around the block few times, I went to the local gas station and filled it up. Then drove about another 5 minutes and the engine died. No fuel smell when I cranked the engine. I tried my spare ECU. No start. I called AAA and got van back home. Suspecting a fuel problem, I changed fuel filter and put back original fuel pump. No start. I put fuel line pressure gauge on and cranked engine. No fuel pressure. I put new pump on 12 volt source (model RR power supply) and it worked fine. You can't hear the fuel pump when you turn key. What do I try next? Is it true that if ignition control module is bad, the ECU does not get required signal and fuel pump won't get power? John Lauterbach Macon, GA '84 7-passenger with 1.9 WBX |
