I'm trying to get his 2.1L motor of mine to idle correctly before I remove it from my Single Cab and install it into my Westfalia. There is no tachometer in the Single Cab, but I estimate idle was around 2500 rpm before I started messing with it. I corrected the closed throttle switch not engaging, set the timing to stock values, checked the TEMP II sender (OK). The throttle valve butterfly itself seems a little worn, I can move it up and down a little and when it is up, the idle drops down to near normal values. Pushing it down (1mm) will bring it up to a 1.5 to 2K roar. I have swapped the idle stabilizer valve out with a known to work unit, the idle bypass valve is working and pinching the line makes no difference. To me, it seems like too much air is getting past the throttle valve and I may need a new one. Will a 1.9L throttle valve work? Anything else I should try?
