For my 1.9 L I had similar problems finding or understanding the process. One source of information I used was on a Porsche web site (http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/914_valve_adjust/914_valve_adjust. htm) which talked me through the process. In fact, once I popped the covers, the process was pretty accurate. Here's how I found TDC on each plug, based on a suggestion from a listee: Remove the respective plug, pur a pencil or small wood dowl in the cylinder resting on the piston. Move the piston until the pencil/dowl is optimally out. With the transmission in neutral, I moved the fan belts to move the cylinder. |
