Aloha I was on the list years back and have come back with an issue with my starter. I read some of the archive about my starter slowly not responding to a fresh battery, some chat say it could be the stock wiring is old and not sending all it can to a 3 yr old starter that I opened up and cleaned the bushing according to the achieves as being one the first faults of the starter. Also need to check where the grounds on the Vanagon for the battery and such? I can start the battery with a jump nicely but now it needs this if I tune it off and wait to long. So has anyone tried a voltage amplifier the by passes the stock wire harness and starts at the battery. If the works my starter may be good for awhile longer. I got one off evelbay that works for the Vanagon; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=3 3576&item=2431348866 I'll let you know how it works or suffer a new starter.
