Removing the dash appears to be an overwhelming task, but it is relatively simple. I have had three of them out of the van and it gets easier every time. I think it took about two hours the first time. I would *never* cut a hole in the heater housing to avoid dash removal. There has been quite a bit of debate on this issue just this year. Check the archives. Ask for help. Do not destroy your heater box.
