I'm going by memory, But as I recall, if you swivel the mirror to one side and look in there with a flashlight, you will see a tab/tonuge around the center of the mirror (left or right, not top or bottom). that tab/tongue needs to be pushed/rotated up (or down) to unlock the mirror. Be careful that the mirror does not drop on the ground. Can't help you with the other questions. M
