If I'm remembering your post correctly, didn't you stop the engine each time before pulling off a wire? If so, then go back and do the "take one wire off" routine *without* stopping the engine between wire pulls.

So, with the engine running, pull wire to #1. If idle changes, then #1 is in the game. Reconnect #1, pull #2, check idle. And so on.
