Johnny and all,

I saw a vanagon running around the other day that had a 4" x 4" x ~4' piece of wood bolted up to the rear of the van. That seems like a strong, cheap, easy solution to the bumper issue.

others i have seen include ones that can be purchased from volks cafe, and fastforward.ca

Both are really nice options, but arent cheap.

I was thinking about welding up some schedule 40 pipe and making my own, but i wasn't sure how hard it would be to get the bolting to line up since i am a novice welder. still may go for it at some point.

cheers, -james '83.5 country homes
