Subject: camber out of whack?
Content-Type: text/plain;charset=iso-8859-1

Hi, after putting new tires on the van, and replacing the pside upper control arm bushings, I figured it would be a good idea for an alignment. So, I took it in, but the shop says they can't get the camber in spec on the p-side front wheel - its 0.9 degrees negative (top side in). They said to try to get it in spec they would have to put it on a frame rack and use a puller on it.

Has anyone dealt with this? I don't think they were feeding me a line, but I'm hesistant to spend the $300+ they quoted me. It wasn't a volkswagen shop, maybe they didn't know what they were doing? On a possibly realted note, the steering feels as loose as ever - I'm thinking new steering rack, as all the ball joints and joints between the wheel and rack seem tight.

BTW, replacing the bushings DID get rid of the persistent squeek on that side - hooray!

thanks, Jeff
