The 85-91 will fit, but with some modifcation. This handle isn't as long as the early one (maybe for less leverage so you don't break it as much??) but the bend back towards the van door is longer and will not fit without being ground down. (I found out the hard way) Since the handle isn't toally solid, there is an end cap will get ground as well, but you can't really see it that much. So there is an option out there.

It might be worth grabbing a spare at the junkyard if you come across one, and putting it away for safe keeping. (We no longer have any left.) The '85-91 version remains available new at this point (although it's anyone's guess for how long).
