Subject: setting the timing on your 2.1l - what value to use
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed

Okay, Bentley wants the timing set to 35(+-5) at 3000 RPM - this on an engine that's warmed up (80C) with all the sensors hooked up, checked against same with the temp sensor disconnected and 2000-2500 RPM.

So, I hook up the light, dial 30 degrees in, and shoot the mark (which is already 5 degrees) at 3000 rpm - simple. The van seems to run "okay" but doesn't seem to be as "peppy" (if a Camper can ever be so ..) as compared to static timing (or idle) on the mark - which is 5 degrees.

Just wondering what settings others have found to work well.

cheers, - Frank
