Most shops will not replace the ISV alone... nor the ISCU alone. If either component is faulty, it will kill the other one.

Generally though, it is a clogged ISV which makes components on the ISCU give out. There are transistors, and voltage regulators etc, which are very sensitive.

The ISCU is a bear to troublehoot and repair... but the suggestions that Germain made are what you should try.

There is a ton of ISCU info in the archives. Hopefully someone on the list will eventually start making them from scratch in their basements and giving them to list members for free... that would be cool!
