Subject: Mystery part - what is this thing?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hey all,

I have an '87 Westy that I recently purchased and it has a 2nd battery installed under the rear seat. In testing to verify that it's correctly installed and wired I found this mystery part which to my amateur eye definitely does not look stock.

My secondary battery is not powering the house lights in the van, nor does it seem to be doing anything. If I disconnect the ground strap from the secondary battery everything in the van functions just as before. If I disconnect the ground strap from the primary battery everything in the van is dead.

My goal here is to get the secondary battery wired so that the house lights & possibly the stereo run off it. I have the instructions for installing a second battery but I didn't expect to find this part in the mix and right now I'm not sure what to do. Any help in identifying what this is and what function it performs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, -Roger
