I found a vaccuum leak in the manifold gasket on my 1982 air cooled vanagon westy. The current gasket arrangement is one thick heat spacer sandwhiched between two paper/foil gaskets. I have been told that this is not stock. Does anyone know if the two paper gaskets are necessary? Is the heat spacer all that is needed. Along the same lines, can anyone reccomend a sealant that can be applied to the gasket to ensure a tight seal? I hesitate to use high temp silicone sealant because any that pushes out when I torque the manifold down could end up in the cylinder. Thanks, Jake_beaulieu@yahoo.com
