There is somve over the counter stuff that works well that you can brush on and wipe off. On the heads I used acetone soaks, overnight in alcohol and proylene oxide. I used a very fine wire brush between application and a final light sanding before a final cleaning. gary Date: Thu, 25 Sep 2003 08:29:04 -0700 From: Dyer Lytle <dyer@LPL.ARIZONA.EDU> Subject: Removing old gasket material Hi all, Does anyone have any tips on removing old gasket material from an engine case? I am (very slowly) rebuilding my 1.9 liter engine out of my '84 and am currently working the engine case over. Some of the old, baked on, gasket material is difficult to remove and I want to get these areas clean so the new gaskets will seal properly. Mostly, I am using a razor blade and a brass brush in a Dremel tool. Yes, I have searched the archives. Thanks, -Dyer Lytle in Tucson
