Yes, and the major difference is that they do not propagate by email, so you _generally_ need to be directly targeted by a bad guy.

The places that get hit are also almost always commercial, not private. And they usually do it to host a warez site, a nice private chat room, or as a shell site to hop to the next victim. They tend not to attract attention to the fact they did anything. I have seen systems that were cracked for over a year with no symptoms at all before discovery.

Very different, indeed.
