Look at ep.com and autotrader.com for lots of choices. This will also help you get a feel for the market value as the blue book is useless. Do not purchase any vehicle with out having a shop that is knowlwdgeable in vanagons inspect it. Also run a history check on the vin through carfax or similar service, our van managed to lose 100,000 miles somewhere in its past. If you are shopping vehicles in CA you can log into the state records and check a vehicles smog test history, this can be useful to verify where the van has been. I have the link for this if you like. I am currently using it to backtrack our vans history to try and dertermine when and by whom the mileage was changed.

I have been vanagon-less for 4 years now, when I see a Westy on the road, I have trained my kids to mantra " Oohhh Ahhhh" as we pass by it. I fear the only fix for this will be buying a westy, but here in is my dilemma. I see many for sale, but don't know what a good price is. I think my withdrawal syndrome is impairing my judgement. For instance. 1986 syncro Westy weekender $10300, 4spd. 1990 non syncro Westy WE 215k $6995 A/T 1990 non syncro Westy WE 126K $8300 4spd Of course this has to pass the spouse test,(color, A/C, good radio.) Trolling for opinions and advice. Rick Sacto
