Karen, I took some of that 3M abrasive tape that you use on stair treads. I stuck it on the upright tube of the table in the spot where the screw tightens down. Now the screw (and related tightening device) clamps down onto the abrasive tape. It does an elegant job of holding it without tying stuff on it or screwing things into the table or the walls.
