<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV>hey all,</DIV> <DIV>i removed the ditributor on my 87 syncro to replace the seal that was leaking.&nbsp; i bought a new saeal from my local vw dealer.&nbsp; i removed the distr with no problem.&nbsp; i removed the old seal and installed the new seal.&nbsp; i then, according to bentley, made sure the crank was tdc which it is and the rotor faced that direction as well.&nbsp; well, the ditrib slid in about half an inch and stopped.&nbsp; it stopped right where the seal started to go in the shaft.&nbsp; i can not get it in any further short of hammering it in, which i do not want to do.&nbsp; now i have done this procedure before and ran into the same problem about three years back on my 90gl.&nbsp; however, i do not remember how i got it in.&nbsp; scratching my head here.&nbsp; i figure it is because it is a new seal and the bulge of the seal makes it hard to slide in, well, what is the easy way here?&nbsp; grease it up?&nbsp; i could get a screw driver on the mounting plate and hammer it in that way, but this seems much too harsh to me.</DIV> <DIV>any ideas?</DIV> <DIV>tia</DIV> <DIV>jason</DIV></div><br clear=all><hr> <a href="http://g.msn.com/8HMBENUS/2728??PS=">High-speed Internet access as low as $29.95/month*.
