The 195 is tread width in mm. you should have no problem putting 195's on your rims. A 195/60R14 will 10mm(less than 1/2 in)wider than the 185's. The "60" refers to the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the tread width. 195/60R14 will be a slightly lower profile than you currently have, thus lowering your ride height approx. 12.5mm(roughly 1/2in). Your speedometer will slightly less accurate, but this is easily an acceptable size to run.

So...
I've gotten a lot of good suggestions here... probably what will
ultimately determine whether I go with 2 or 4 will be what I can afford.
Now, it looks like I MIGHT be able to get a good deal on some Nokian's,
but they're 195/60/14, rather than (i think) 185R14C.  Is that 195-185
difference a problem?  And is it a problem I can fix by getting wider
rims?  Thanks a lot guys....
