No, no, you're looking at it all wrong. The proper VW owner attitude is, "Wow, look at all the stuff I can buy with the money I saved on the purchase price!" ;)

You can tweak this to cover any expense, depending on whether you compare your purchase price to:

- Other Vanagon campers - The original purchase price of a Vanagon camper - The purchase price of a new RV
