That's simply not true, unfortunately. In the last few years we've seen the advent of "Internet worms" that randomly scan for and infect vulnerable hosts. Worms that infect Linux are a little less common than ones that infect Windows, but they do exist.

It's every bit as important to keep up on the security patches for your Linux installation as it is forWindows.
