Jerry, my man, replace all the conductors which run through that boot or there is a likely chance that you will be at it again in the future. I had a similar break in the power window wiring. I snaked all new wires through the convoluted route from the dash connectors to the connectors in the door. I initially found one open conductor, but as I worked at replacing it, more opens appeared. It made sense that if one conductor had separated, then the others would be soon to follow, so I replaced them all. While it was a bit of a hassle to snake the first wire without cutting the boot, it is far better to do it that way; not faster, just better.

Use wire with the greatest number of stands that you can find in the appropriate gauge. I scavenged wire from a spared Volvo harness and managed to even retain the original color coding. If nothing else is available to you, electrical instrument lead wire is as good as it gets with regard to flexibility.
