My guess is there are 2 inputs for 12v+, one to operate the tuner off the ignition switch and another on at all times to keep the security memory energized. Verify your hookups. If it turns out to be a bug inside, seek Wilford Wilkes, German radio rebuilding spezialist. He can be found in Hemmings, or probably a web search. If he can't make it function properly, I can't imagine who could.
