The closest place I know to Santa Monica is Malibu RV Park. Pricey as I recall at about $35 a night. It's north up the PCH (rt. 1) from Santa Monica, but I don't think it's actually in Malibu, I think it's in Pacific Palisades which is the town just north of Santa Monica. Please call Malibu RV park though, to find out exactly how far north of Santa Monica to see if it's worth it.

The next closest I know is about 20 miles or more north of Santa Monica on PCH. It's a state park at Sycamore Beach for about $10 a night. This is up near Pt. MAgu. Really kind of a hike from Santa Monica.

I haven't been camping in the area in a while so this all is based on my feeble memory. I hope it helps.
