Hi, For reference: NHTSA Study: Reflective Tape Helps Prevent Crashes http://www.dot.gov/affairs/nhtsa2201.htm "reflective tape reduces nighttime side and rear impacts into heavy trailers by 29%." The Effectiveness of Retroreflective Tape on Heavy Trailers http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/regrev/evaluate/809222.html I could not find any information on prohibited reflective tape colors, but assume that white is OK as long as the following driver isn't blinded by the reflection. I haven't heard of anyone being pulled over by the red/white tape - but have heard of people being pulled over for leaving their rear-facing "hunting" lights on. Conrad |
