Subject: Vanagon Syndrom - still, or is it???
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

My 89 Wolfsy showed signs of V-syndrome in July. It cut out on long trips (after about an hour), and bucked and shuddered. Like a good listserver, i went through the archives and implemented the repair check-list one by one. I cleaned and replaced all grounds; I added two new grounds one from the top of the engine block and one from the back of the alternator; i replaced cap, rotor, and ignition wires, installed a small cooling fan on the ECU housing and installed the capacitor fix on the AFM. The only thing I have not yet replaced is the Temp II sensor. The V-syndrome seems to be gone, but . . . . . . . . . . now the engine cuts out after slowing down from high speed.

The engine starts and idles fine when cold, but after reaching operating temperature it cuts out at stops - like traffic lights. The engine responds well under loads, accelerates without any misses, but after I stop at (let's say) a traffic light, the engine idle comes down to about 1050 RPM for about 15 seconds (andd all is well) the idle then drops down to about 950 RPM (which seems normal). But then, after about 10 seconds at 950 RPM it cutes out. Just stops like someone turned the key off. It always restarts, but then cuts out again after about 15 seconds of idling.

Any ideas out there? I checked the archive and read the Bentley, am I on the right track to check idle stabilizer control, valve??? - any thoughts would be greatly appreciated???
