Subject: # warning buzzer for turn signal and parking lights left on
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello Volks!

I keep having my battery discharged once in a while because of two possible reasons:

1. I left the headlight switch on. The parking lights stay on although the headlights are turned off by the ignition switch. This is hard to notice in the day.

2. I left the turn signal lever not in center position. This leaves the appropriate turn signals, right or left, on (not blinking). These lights are also not affected by the ignition switch.

Situation #2 is much more common, because when I turn into the parking spot the lever doesn't always return to center and I don't notice it because the turn signal relay isn't clicking with ignition off.

I've searched the archives and found mention only of the parking lights situation, but no specific points where to connect a warning buzzer. Looking in the schematics maze in the Bentley manual doesn't seem to suggest an easy connection point.

I'm sure other people have had these problems. Has anyone found a "Holistic" solution to BOTH mentioned problems? I don't mind installing TWO buzzers, one for each circuit (parking and turn signal) if necessary.

===== Cheers, T-man.
