Unplug the speaker connector from the back of the radio and do a resistance check between the two grey wires (-) for the rear speakers. If you get continuity, the wiring utilizes a common ground. If not, you should be able to use the current wiring with a new headend unit. FWIW, the wiring for the speakers in my '87 Camper do not share a common ground.
