Got my head is back on, coolant in and went for a short test drive. Ran OK, but since I've never driven it or any other diesel before, I'm just guessing. Noisy! The temp needle went up to the right of the LED, a situation I'm not used to seeing on my Waterboxer. So, I eased back into the driveway and shut it off. After allowing it to cool for a few minutes, I started and idled and watched the gauge swing back up. I don't know how high it would go, and it rises very slowly. But I didn't want to take any chances so I shut it off and wrote this email. It SEEMED to stay about one needle's width to the high side of the LED. Also, I have a fuel drip from the top of the "throttle block" (if that's what it is) where the fuel control shaft comes out of the top of the injector block. It leaks down the metal lever that projects off to the left and drips onto #1 injector, runs down head and block. Not a lot, but annoying and possibly performance-robbing. What does this bode, does anyone know? And anything obvious I should be looking for on the overheating? Thanks, Jim |
