My '85 had the pod rear speakers, and a common ground wire.

Easiest test:  Get a continuity tester (or ohmmeter, etc.), unplug the wiring
from the stereo, and put the test leads on the 2 ground wires.  If they are
common, you will have a continuous circuit.  If not, they won't.
