While the historical information is correct, many listmembers would disagree with the statement "DO NOT order two 332's... the result will be a hatch so stiff that your entire family (dog included) will have to hang on the hatch to get it down." Many listmembers indeed do put the higher-pressure 332's on both sides. It does require noticably more force to close the hatch this way, but not to the point that I've heard of many complaints. On the other hand, the struts last longer and the hatch will also support additional weight (such as a bike rack) and still stay raised. As for whether you should go that route, or get one 331B and one 332, that's up to you, but I wouldn't advise against a pair of 332's as Go Westy did..

One thing I will add - it's best to replace hatch struts in pairs. If one strut starts to fail, the other has to work a lot harder, eventually causing its premature failure as well. If you do one at a time, you're likely to end up replacing them both, alternately, much more frequently than if you replaced them in pairs to begin with.

Incidentally, our prices are lower.
