Mark, you will find that the new 1.9L runs much better when the timing is closer to TDC. Retarding the timing closer to spec will drop the RPMs closer to spec. If your throttle switch is set right, it will keep the engine from exceeding an idle of about 1400 rpm when the engine is warm. If you are 15 degrees BTC, your idle will be too high.
