Larry,

either bad wires in the loom somewhere interrupting power to the lock - most likely around the passage between the door and the dash, or

bad connections inside the actuator box due to water, corrosion, etc.

lots of discussion of this in the archives.

But you have to go digging for the problem. Mine was corrosion and rust in the box due to leakage around the window. An attempt to clean up the connections didn't work, so I replaced it with a used one from a parts van.
