Subject: air intake question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

My van has aftermarket cruise control, that was installed in the area where a hose attaches the air cleaner to the fresh air "snorkel". I figure from the looks of the cruise installation one of the POs of the van did it themselves (very ugly). To make more room for the installation, this guy simply cut the hose off, and currently the air cleaner is being supplied with "hot" air directly from the engine compartment.

So I have two questions: - is it potentially detrimental to the engine to be running under these conditions? I realize that "cold" air provides more power than "hot" air - anything beyond this?

- is there a specific part that I can get to replace the hose, or will any appropriately sized flex hose work?

Any comments on this would be appreciated.

Andrew
