Re: BBW 46 gas heaters

There is a similar product available in the U.S., it is made by Webasto, a german company, it is called the "BlueHeat Thermo Top C". They claim to supply Mercedes with these as a factory option. I am not affiliated with them in any way and have not seen one first hand. My contact with them comes from literature provided to the dealership where I work for consideration as a dealer added option. Their website is www.webasto.us. It is a nice looking unit from what I see in their literature, but it isn't cheap, even at dealer price. Maybe Larry Chase could try one in Roadhaus and give us a report on it, as it must be the only accessory that he does not have.

I'm getting ready for winter here in chicago. Anybody know of any battery > options for block heaters that would be reasonable? > > wes > '84 vanagon 1.9l

Not that this is a viable option to retrofit, but I thought some people may be interested. VW offered an optional stand-alone coolant heating system on Canadian Syncros. The Webasto BBW 46 gas heater will operate while the van is running or not. A timer will turn the heater on in advance at a preset time. You can warm up the engine anywhere, you don't need to plug into 120 volt AC.

I put up some pictures, description and repair manual on my web site. Also the factory heated drivers seat.
